Awesome Con:UPDATE

May 28, 2015

So apparently my space at Awesome Con is I-6, not 16. I’ll be in Artist Alley on the beginning of the row, next to Colorworld Comics’ Rachel Kelly!

Remember, I’m at two events on Saturday! The first is the “Mainstream vs. Independents” panel at 2:45 in Room 156, and then later I’ll be participating in the Quick Sketch Charity Auction at 6:30 in Room 142!

For those more visually inclined, here’s a map (idea stolen from Kata (Altar Girl) Kane, who can be found at F4)

Sadly, I’ll have to backpedal on some of those pages and covers available, cause I can’t sell what hasn’t been released yet, D’oh! As River Song says, “Spoilers, darling!”

Hope to see you all there!

Just a reminder that I’ll be appearing at Awesome Con this weekend in my home town of Washington, DC! I’ll be there with the likes of George Takei, Alex Kingston, and some guy named Shatner. More importantly, I’ve got some tidbits to pass along about me! ‘Cause that’s all that matters.

First-  I’ve upgraded my con setup this year, so look for me with my swanky new table cloth!

Second- I’ve moved up to a larger page size so you can see my wonderful art in crystal clarity; something I can’t do…cause I’m old and my eyesight is failing. Plus, I’ll have a few traditional sized covers up for sale, which I’ve rarely made available in the past!

Third- The big news is, I’ll have a cool set of stickers of the major Joe-universe ladies available for purchase! It has both good gals and bad girls, including (of course) the Baroness, Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Zaranna, and Cover Girl! You can buy them individually (while supplies last) or in a pre-packaged set with all five designs for a discounted price! They’re 5″ across so and perfect for notebooks, bumpers, luggage, or the middle of a forehead (especially if it’s big like mine or Arnold’s).

Lastly, here’s a map of the Awesome Con floor, and apparently I’m sitting at booth 16. I’m not a media guest, and there’s no prefix, so that must mean I’m an exhibitor. See if you can figure out what’s missing on this map concerning my table assignment of number “16“?

or kick it old school official if you have to…

I hope to see everyone that’ll be in the DC area this weekend at Awesome Con!

Hey gang,

As you make your plans for the holiday weekend, keep in mind, the rabbit doesn’t come out until Sunday. Sure, Friday is your last chance to chow down on that Catholic “vegetable” combo of fish-n-chips, but what else is there to look forward to this weekend?

AWESOME CON of course!

Awesome iCon

Not only will Billie Piper of Doctor Who, and Danai Gurira of the Walking Dead be there, but (especially for guys my age) the most important is that Erin Gray of Buck Rogers will be there! Two words… hubbah, hubbah!

But if that’s not enough to get your attention, then come by the show and wander about until you find me. I’ll be sitting there staring at the walls with books to sell, sketches to do (hopefully), and authorized nerd confab. You’ll also find Steve Conley selling his great comic Bloop, Carolyn Belefski selling her strip Curls, and the great cartoonist Steve Artley— come on, he’s got “art” in his name… what more do you need?

Those of you who will be attending Awesome Con in DC this April (2014), be sure to pick up your copy of Skullkickers #25- with exclusive cover by yours truly!

Here’s a sneak peak!

Just a note that this coming weekend (Apr 20-21) I’ll be appearing at AwesomeCon to be held in the Washington DC Convention Center. Come meet actors Phil LaMarr (MAD TV), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Nicholas Brendon (Buffy:Vampire Slayer), and the only guy I’d compare to Mel Blanc, voice actor Billy West (Ren & Stimpy/Futurama).

Comic legend Herb Trimpe (Wolverine/Hulk/GI Joe) will be there, and the writer of my current series… I think his name is Larry Hama. Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night), Greg LaRocque (Flash), Steve Conley (Bloop/Star Trek), and Carolyn Belefski (Curls) will  all be there showing off art work that makes me consider other occupations. Some schmuck named Nick Galifianakis (who’s done a few cartoons for something called a “newspaper”) will be there, but apparently he’s better known for his School of Dating— that’s just what I hear.

There’s going to be panels on zombie apocalypse survival (always go with the machete= silent & reusable), the rivalry between Star Trek & Star Wars (geekfest alert), sci-fi speed dating (warning: watch out for Pon Farr symptoms), seminars on cosplay costume design, a Dr. Sketchy drawing session, movie screenings, and more. I’ll personally be sitting in on a G.I.Joe panel with Hama and Trimpe… oh, I won’t be saying anything, I’m just there to bring them bottled water. This is your big chance to get all your Joe questions answered!

Don’t worry, there’s tons for the kids to do with the great John Gallagher (Buzzboy) setting up his famous Comic Diner booth with drawing lessons and art supplies for the lil’ ones. Plus a costume contest where they can dress up without it having to be Halloween!
